Juliana Birnbaum

juliana

Trained as a cultural anthropologist and skilled in 4 languages, Juliana has lived and worked in Europe, Japan, Nepal, the U.S, and Brazil.  For the past 12 years she has been a freelance writer and activist focusing on environmental issues and social justice, and an educator, teaching anthropology, English as a Foreign Language, natural history, and yoga.  Her work has been published in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French in a variety of magazines (The Atlantic Monthly, World Rainforest Movement Bulletin), newspapers (Weekly Alibi, El Reportero, The Rising Nepal) indigenous journals (Quechua Network), and academic publications.

 

In 2005 she released a sacred world music CD called Ritual as a pilot production of Voices in Solidarity, an environmental organization that aims to support indigenous self-determination in the Amazon rainforest.
